Rockport, Maine - The Friends of Rockport Public Library will hold their “43rd Edition” annual book sale from Thursday, July 5, through Sunday, July 8, at the Midcoast Recreation Center [MRC] on Route 90 in West Rockport. As always, literally thousands of great quality books and related literary materials will be available at extremely reasonable prices. A large collection of World War II, aviation, and naval history books has been donated to this year’s sale, and the jigsaw puzzles keep arriving, as well.On Thursday, July 5, the sale will kick off with a Friends’ Sale from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Everyone is extended a warm invitation to become a Friend of the Rockport Library no matter where you live! A year’s membership is $10 for individuals, $15 for families, and $50 for businesses. With your new membership, you can preview the sale Thursday and have first selection of the books: 15 books for individuals and 30 books for other membership categories. Membership renewals can be paid ahead of time at the library or at the book sale. Please remember that we prefer dues to be paid by check, if possible. Also please remember that you can expedite the process of paying for your purchased books at the book sale if you have previously paid your dues.
On Friday, July 6, the sale will open to the public promptly at 8:30 AM and end at 3:00 PM. On Saturday, July 7, the sale will re-open promptly at 8:30 AM and go until noon. The ever-popular “$5 Box O’ Books” sale starts at 1:00 PM and goes until 2:00 PM. The sale will conclude on Sunday, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, when all remaining books are FREE. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the sale, with collectors and dealers especially welcome to join in the fun!
In addition to wonderful books, members of the Rockport Garden Club and devotees of the library will be providing delicious homemade treats, which will be for sale on Thursday and Friday.
The funds raised are donated directly to the Rockport Public Library and are used for purchasing new books, program materials, multimedia resources, children’s programs, and equipment for the library. In the past four years alone, the Friends of Rockport Public Library have donated in excess of $35, 000 in money, goods and services to the Rockport Public Library.
