The Perfect Bawoon!

For those who have not heard, there is a helium shortage happening. The one processing plant can not keep up with the demand and so the price of helium tanks has pretty much tripled.

As few weeks ago, we had a few deliveries in the Disneyland Resort area and we try to keep our little one amused and happy so we decided to grab some lunch at the Blue Bayou and then get a balloon for her. While we ate in the extraordinary ambiance of the Blue Bayou, she looked up at the "sky" and said bawoons! she is 2.5 so she is still putting words together. All through my gumbo and jambalaya she kept taping my arm and pointing upwards. "I see the bawoons and we will get you one soon". She was talking about the floating lanterns that you would see on the river down south. As we finished our desserts - the exit could not have come quick enough for her. We waited about another two hours and was wondering where the balloon vendors were on Main Street. Just about to head on over to DCA when the hubby asked an ice cream vendor and what a shock to hear - " We are out of helium - the truck never showed up with our delivery" WHHHAAAATTTT! Disney is out of bawoons! My first thought was WOW Disney must be losing thousands of dollars. Then I quickly thought of my little girl wanting her favorite thing a - Mickey Balloon. Even a lighted toy did not make her happy, but this mama found a little something to keep her occupied until we got home -Bubble Maker.

So Disney still being out of bawoons, my husband went to one of the hotels we delivered to and saw some bawoons in the lobby. He asked if his little princess could have one and the front desk staff was more than accommodating. Security went a got her a fresh balloon with "Princess" all over it. She was thrilled! The balloon lasted about 48 hours before it's final plunge into the trash.

I had to hit my bank on Saturday - and wouldn't just know it they had balloons. I asked for a balloon and explained how there was a helium shortage and they gave me two pink ones to bring home. Lexi was excited but those too did not last.

Hearing that the balloons were back in the park from various Disney fans so we decided t ventured out this last Sunday to see for ourselves. Deliveries done! Fried Chicken at the Plaza Inn on Main Street - Check! and now to look for BaWoons! We check with CM Julie and she told us that the balloons should be out after 4PM. She was shocked that she did not notice any balloons in the parks the last few days. With some time to chill, we headed over to DCA  to let our little girl go Dancin' with Disney! Stage 17 is set for all little ones to run and dance some energy off with a Live DJ and a few lesser loved Disney characters - Lilo, Marie, Clarabelle, Anastasia and Drizella, Clarice (Chip and Dale). From doing the conga, to indoor beach ball toss to a bubble shower - it is great for little ones and the music is not too loud. Parents can relax in the Mad Hatter Tea Party chairs and take minute to catch their breath. It was a good 45 minute FUN TIME!

Well here it is 4:15 and yet still no bawoons. My husband decided to head on over to Disneyland and see if Julie had heard anything. Lexi and I enjoyed the shops of Buena Vista Street and got a handful of  Issue 1 Vol 3 Buena Vista Bugle newspapers. another 45 minutes later - I decided to head towards the exit of DCA and we see Chase carrying his princess  - 4 MICKEY BAWOONS!! She was so excited she could not sit in her stroller. Tears started to well up in my eyes and Yes! This is the man I married!
He had Julie call down and have some sent up - He was the first one to buy the balloons that day! The best $28.00 he ever spent!

After all that - How the heck am I going to drive with 4 Mickey heads in my rear view mirror? It's OK because Lexi did not let go of her bawoons strings at all. And here we are day five and her bawoons are still flying high.
