Four-run third, three-run seventh doom 'Dogs

BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox (29-34) notched runs in two innings and held the Portland Sea Dogs (27-37) scoreless in the 7-0 win Wednesday night at Prince George's Stadium. The win marks the third in a row for the Baysox over the Sea Dogs.

Portland starter Anthony Ranaudo retired the first six hitters he faced in the game before he faltered in the third. Bowie's Brian Ward hit an infield single to short to get the wheels turning for the offense. Travis Adair followed Ward and reached on a sacrifice bunt and throwing error by Reynaldo Rodriguez.

Ranuado (1-2) retired Steven Bumbry on a pop out to the second baseman, but could not find it out of the stretch afterward as he walked the next three hitters, and brought in the first two runs. Robbie Widlansky and Manny Machado capped off the four-run third with an RBI sacrifice fly and RBI single respectively.

Baysox starter Zach Clark stymied the Sea Dogs in his second straight start against Portland. The righty delivered seven shutout innings, but was not overly dominant, as he did not have a perfect inning until the seventh. Clark (4-4) allowed just two hits and four walks to the 'Dogs, while he struck out seven.

Ranaudo lasted only three innings and allowed four runs, one earned on two hits, he walked three and struck out two. Lefty Will Latimer was the first out of the bullpen and held the Baysox scoreless over the next three frames.

Bowie upped its lead to 7-0 on three more runs in the bottom of the seventh. Aaron Kurcz took the brunt of the damage out of the bullpen for the Sea Dogs. Kurcz allowed the first three to reach on two walks and a single, before retiring the next two hitters. Widlansky made the righty pay with a bases-clearing double to right field.

The Sea Dogs continue a six game road trip on Thursday with a 7:05 PM game against the Bowie Baysox from Prince George's Stadium in Bowie, Maryland. Left-handed pitcher Chris Hernandez (3-5, 2.88) will get the start for the Sea Dogs. Bowie will send lefty Jacob Pettit (3-0, 3.79) to the hill. The Sea Dogs can be heard on the U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs radio network with 95.5/95.9 FM WPEI serving as the flagship station.

The CW Still Wants THE SELECTION, Comedies For Midseason

According to Deadline's Nellie Andreeva, The CW may have passed on its "Hunger Games"-like pilot for the moment, but the project is very much alive.

The network is currently in talks with producers next to redevelop the project. The first pilot was apparently very close to the novels by Kiera Cass. The new approach is said to take the novels as a jumping-off point.

The cast is expected to change, but lead Aimée Teegarden has gotten high praise, so the idea is to keep her on.

And even though The CW has only ordered dramas for the fall, the network is keen on bringing scripted comedy back into the fold, with single-camera comedies being a priority.

On track to re-development are an adaptation of the 2009 British comedy "FM" starring Chris O’Dowd, about two radio DJs and their producers, and "Swordfighting", written byBen McMillan and Josh Greenbaum and produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, which is about two young couples.

The new pilots are said to be produced off-cycle, for potential series launches later in the new season.

AMC Announces Summer Premiere Dates - BREAKING BAD Returns July 15

AMC today has announced various premieres of scripted and unscripted fare for the summer.
Of most interest is of course the return date of "Breaking Bad", which will air the first half of its fifth and final season this summer, beginning Sunday, July 15, at 10 PM ET/PT. Eight episodes will air.
Additionally, the second season of "H-e-l-l on Wheels" will launch on Sunday, August 12, at 9 PM ET/PT.
And then there's unscripted series "Small Town Security", formerly known as "JJK Security", which premieres right after the return of "Breaking Bad", on Sunday, July 15, at 11 PM ET/PT.
The show "focuses on a small, family-owned private security company located in rural Georgia," and will consist of eight half-hour episodes.

Syfy Cancels SANCTUARY

Well, we had to kind of see it coming...

According to TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich, Syfy has finally made a decision on its green-screen heavy series "Sanctuary" - and canceled it.

The various stars of the show have taken to Twitter to offer their reactions.

Amanda Tapping, whose lead character Dr. Helen Magnus was the heart and center of "Sanctuary", wrote, “‘Bloody hell’ indeed," shortly after word came in. Before that, Tapping had much praise. “We love and adore you. Thank you for the love and support. Now to the long dark tea time of my soul.”

Robin Dunne, who played Will Zimmerman, shared the following: “Thanks to our wonderful @SanctuarySeries fans for 4 years of love & support. You gave us a great life. See you on the next one. XO.”

Ryan Robbins, who played Henry, had only kind words. “Truly overwhelmed by all the wonderful #Sanctuary messages. You guys continue to be full of awesomeness. #bestfansever,” while Robert Lawrenson (Declan) tweeted, “A huge thank you to the phenomenal Sanctuary fans, cast, crew & producers for a wonderful run. Look back with pride and forward with spirit.”

FRINGE, SMASH, THE GAME To Lose Several Actors Next Season

When the new season starts in the fall, and in the case of "The Game", early next year, there will be several familiar faces missing from our TV screens, as multiple actors will be exiting their respective shows.

- According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, the fifth and final season of FOX' "Fringe" will have to exist without the presence of Lincoln. Seth Gabel will not be back as a series regular, and, from the looks of it, won't be part in any other way, either, since the bridge to the other universe, where "our" Lincoln now resides, has been permanently closed.

- Per TVLine's Michael Sleazak, "Smash" will return in midseason to NBC for its second season, but there are several actors who won't be part of the show - at least not on a regular basis. Jaime Cepero (Ellis) and Raza Jaffrey (Dev) have been dropped as regulars, and it has yet to be decided if they will return to wrap up their characters' storylines. Additionally, series regular Brian D’Arcy James (Frank, Julia's "(Debra Messing) husband), and recurring actor Will Chase (Michael Swift) are leaving in season 2 as well.
But the show is in the process of adding three new regular characters to the new season, which have yet to be cast.

- And then there's "The Game", who has been renewed for a sixth season on BET, which will suffer quite the loss next year. As the network has announced, leading couple Tia Mowry Hardrict and Pooch Hall, whose Melanie and Dervin are at the center of the comedy, won't be returning.
“As a result of Pooch’s involvement on a new project [which is Showtime's "Ray Donovan"], BET is in the process of reworking the casting and storyline of the show. While we will miss the incredible adventures of Melanie and Derwin on The Game, we appreciate all of their hard work, the laughs and wish them both the best on their future endeavors," BET said in a statement. The network brass hopes that both actors are game for guest appearances.

Hello Folks

After three years blogging on Blogspot, and using the blog there mainly to offer an archive of all my posted news here, I have decided to upgrade, and create a new blog with Wordpress, which offers a more professional solution, and also allows me to now have my own domain.

I think that my new blog will be an improved experience, because, first off, it looks much more like I want my blog to look like, and also offers me much more possibilities. While the former blog was only a text-based venue, this new place will be offering much more in terms of images and videos, as it is now much easier to embed those things.

Also, the new blog will now contain articles I won't post anywhere else. Now, don't fret, if you have been reading my news on either the ExIsle forum or the E!Online "Watch With Kristin" board, you won't lose anything here from me there. But the new blog will sometimes offer image galleries or preview videos I simply can't post accordingly in a forum. All the other stuff you will still get there, as you have grown accustomed to over the years.

So, by all means, bookmark the new blog, visit often for new updates, and comment! This place will be much more fun if the readers participate in commenting, offering suggestions or opinions. So come on over, and make yourself known.

As for this blog, as of this moment, it won't be updated anymore. But I won't delete it, either. It will still be kept open as the place were my previous TV news are archived (at least until I find a way to migrate the old stuff, but that might not be possible).

I hope that this new blog will be a more fun experience for you, as it was for me creating it, and now will be, now that I can finally start posting! See you there!

New Comedies


“Go On” -- Misery loves company. Unless you’re sportscaster Ryan King (Matthew Perry, “Friends,” “Mr. Sunshine”) who thinks misery should just be left alone. After taking some time off, Ryan – who recently lost his wife in a car accident – is now ready to get back to work. And while he seems like his same old charming, cocky self, his boss won’t set him back on the air until he seeks counseling. So, Ryan reluctantly joins a support group with one goal in mind: get in, get out and get back on the radio as quickly as possible. Played by the fast-talking, sarcastic, and charismatic Perry, Ryan gives grief a real run for its money. Within one day of group therapy, he hijacks the meeting and suddenly the downtrodden are cajoled into playing a game of “who’s got the best sob story?” And in no time all of them are battling it out, trying to one-up each other’s despair. Now, this is fun! Ryan’s total lack of interest in healing might be just what this group needs – and maybe, exactly what he needs to move on with his life. “The New Normal” -- These days, families come in all forms – single dads, double moms, sperm donors, egg donors, one-night-stand donors… It’s 2012 and anything goes. Bryan (Andrew Rannells, “Girls,” “The Book of Mormon”) and David (Justin Bartha, “The Hangover”) are a Beverly Hills couple and they have it all. Well, almost. With successful careers and a committed and loving partnership, the one thing missing is a baby. And just when they think the stars will never align, enter Goldie (Georgia King, “One Day”), an extraordinary young woman with a checkered past. “Animal Practice” -- Meet Dr. George Coleman (Justin Kirk, “Weeds”), a top-dog New York veterinarian. With an unorthodox style of operating, George’s success comes from his undeniable gift with animals of all kinds. That is, all but the human kind. Dorothy Crane once held the key to George’s heart, but today she also holds the key to the family business as she takes over Crane Animal Hospital.  Not only is she George’s new boss, but her romantic history with him and her lack of experience with animals is seriously cramping his style.  Dorothy is whip-smart and ambitious, and she’s going to make George pay for the past.  Needless to say, he’s determined not to make any changes in his (animal) kingdom -- which includes poker games with a resident capuchin monkey.  Also starring are Tyler Labine (“Reaper,” “Sons of Tucson”) as Dr. Doug Jackson, a vet who's great with animals but hapless in matters of the heart, Bobby Lee (“Harold & Kumar”) as Dr. Yamamoto, and newcomer Betsy Sodaro as Angela.  “Animal Practice” is a production of Universal Television and American Work Inc.  The executive producers are Scot Armstrong (“The Hangover Part II,” “Old School”) and Ravi Nandan (“Best Friends Forever”) of American Work Inc. “Guys with Kids” -- From Emmy winner and executive producer Jimmy Fallon comes a new comedy about three thirty-something dads trying to hold on to their youth, while holding onto their new babies’ hands.  Easy, right?  Thankfully, Chris (Jesse Bradford, “The West Wing”), Nick (Zach Cregger, “Friends with Benefits”) and Gary (Anthony Anderson, “Law & Order”) have each other to help navigate their survival as new dads, while still trying desperately to remain dudes. Balancing work or staying at home, painfully married or happily divorced, they know that taking care of the little ones while maintaining a social life is a daily challenge. Whether it’s hosing the little squirt down in the kitchen sink or hitting the bar strapped with a baby björn, these guys are on a roller-coaster adventure – parenting like you (and they) have never seen before.  Also starring are Emily (Jamie Lynn Sigler, “The Sopranos”) and Tempestt Bledsoe (“The Cosby Show”).  Someone once said it is much easier to become a father than to be one. “Save Me” -- Welcome to the Midwestern suburbs, where exciting things never happen. Well, almost never.  After a near-death experience (choking on a hero sandwich), Beth (Emmy nominee Anne Heche, “Hung”) is revived only to realize she now has a direct line to God. Of course, her husband Tom (Michael Landes, “Final Destination 2”) is skeptical and dismissive – and his mistress (Alexandra Breckenridge, “American Horror Story”) is stunned to learn that her lover’s wife is now a prophet!  But when inexplicable things begin to happen, everyone’s beliefs are tested. Beth starts to say and do things that shock her family and entrance her friends, but she isn’t going to be your typical “fire and brimstone” prophet. Let’s just say, if God had a desperate housewife as His mouthpiece, Beth would be it!  She is the absolute last person on Earth who would be chosen. Then again, they say He works in mysterious ways. “1600 Penn” -- The Gilchrists are just the average American family dealing with all the everyday issues – like a grown kid who’s forced to move back home, children who are smarter than their teachers and a stepmom (Jenna Elfman, “Dharma and Greg”) desperately trying to win over the kids. “Next Caller” -- What happens when a foulmouthed satellite radio DJ – played by the multi-platinum selling artist and outrageously charming Dane Cook (“My Best Friend’s Girl”) – is forced to share the mic with a chipper NPR feminist?  It’s anyone’s call in this sharp new comedy from producer Stephen Falk (“Weeds”) and Emmy-winning director Marc Buckland (“Grimm,” “My Name Is Earl”). “Hannibal” -- One of the most fascinating literary characters comes to life on television for the first time: psychiatrist-turned-serial-killer, Dr. Hannibal Lecter.  In this new drama from Bryan Fuller (“Pushing Daisies,” “Heroes”), based on the characters from Thomas Harris’ classic novels, we see where this incredible story began.
