The Volunteer Lawyers Project presents “Lawyers in Libraries” at the Portland Public Library

Portland, Maine - Lawyers in Libraries will be holding a video conferencing event on Tuesday, February 19 2013 from 6:00-7:00pm. The clinic will be held at the Maine State Library and streamed live to attendees Portland Public Library, Lower Level Room #3. Attorney Sean Norton will discuss how to obtain free tax preparation for the 2012 tax year, how to understand the Earned Income Tax Credit and Dependency Exemption, and what to do if you haven’t filed your taxes for a past year or if you owe a debt to the IRS.

Attendees will be able to ask general questions of the lawyer after the presentation but for specific answers they will be encouraged to call the Volunteer Lawyers Project (toll free 1-800-442-4293, in Portland 774-4348), to arrange for a personal consultation.

The Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) has received a grant to provide legal information clinics, and then legal representation clinics, through the Maine State Library.
