
1965: Walt Disney announces his plan for the Florida Project, which includes the Magic Kingdom theme park and his massive city project dubbed the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT).

Oct. 1, 1982: Epcot opens with nine countries in the World Showcase Pavilion, including Mexico, China, The American Adventure, Germany, Italy, Japan, France, Canada and United Kingdom, plus themed areas and rides, including Spaceship Earth, The Land, Imagination! and Universe of Energy

Sept. 1984: Epcot opens Morocco pavilion.

Sept. 1986: Epcot adds the Captain EO show featuring Michael Jackson. The attraction later reopened to guests in July 2010.

May 1988: Epcot adds Norway pavilion.

1993: The first International Flower & Garden Festival debuts. Also, Living with the Land opens at The Land.

Nov. 1994: Honey, I shrunk the Audience opens.

1997: Epcot debuts the first International Food & Wine Festival.

March 1999: Test Track opens. The attraction will reopen with new technology and experience the fall or winter of 2012.

August 2003: Mission: Space opens.

Nov. 2004: Turtle Talk with Crush opens at The Living Seas.

May 2005: Soarin' opens at The Land.

October 2006: The Seas with Nemo and Friends, a pavilion and ride, opens.

February 2008: Spaceship Earth reopens with a new technological upgrade and experience

August 2010: Via Napoli restaurant opens at the Italy pavilion

September 2010: La Hacienda and La Cantina de San Angel eateries open at the Mexico pavilion
